Brian Lahiff

Director

Brian Lahiff is an accomplished Chartered Engineer and Fellow Professional Consulting Engineer with more than 18 years of experience in planning, designing, managing, coordinating, and monitoring construction projects. He has an extensive track record of working on a range of project types and sizes, with a particular specialization in the delivery of phased projects in challenging healthcare environments. Brian's expertise has taken him across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Brian has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Health and Safety in Construction from Trinity College Dublin and acts as PSDP and safety consultant on a number of projects. Brian has also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management from Trinity College Dublin Brian was the conveyor of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI) BIM Committee between 2015 and 2022 and is still an active member of the committee. Brian has represented the ACEI on numerous cross-industry BIM initiatives, such as the CIC and CitA BIM groups. He has also lectured extensively on the subject and co-authored and presented a paper at the 2019 CitA BIM Gathering.

 What to expect during the event

Brian will present the view of BIM from the perspective of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI) highlighting the benefits, challenges and lessons learned from the use of Building Information Modelling and Information Management in Ireland. Brian will discuss the results of a recent ACEI member survey on this subject and will highlight the opportunities that the ACEI see for the future of BIM in Ireland. Brian’s key messages are going to be: • The AECI’s current position of the use of BIM and associated • Feedback from a BIM ACEI Member Survey • The opportunities for future BIM development in Ireland
