Nicoleta Panagiotidou is an architect; she has more than 15 years of experience in the construction industry on a wide range of projects, from inception to completion. She is the founder and director of BIM Design Hub, (Autodesk training center) and an Autodesk Certified Instructor. She actively supports digital skills development in the construction industry, promoting ISO 19650 BIM courses and Autodesk BIM-based training.

Nicoleta specializes in Sustainable Design, with an MSc from the University of Edinburgh and she is currently researching a Ph.D. in BIM. ( UCL, London UK). She participated both as a keynote and a guest speaker in BIM conferences and promotes BIM initiatives that add value to the industry and implement innovative based - business transformations.

 What to expect during the event

In this presentation I discuss the strategic role of the international standards ISO 19650 in BIM implementation and especially the requirements of the ISO 19650-1 and ISO 19650-2 standards.

The presentation begins with some facts related to the global and European BIM adoption trends, the ISO 19650 adoption drivers and barriers and the importance of the use standards in construction.

Next, I refer to the timeline of the UK BIM standards and how they have shaped the ISO 19650 series and I explain how BIM is developed in the asset’s lifecycle.

Following, I make a short reference to the ISO 19650-1and ISO 19650 -2 key concepts, explaining the ISO maturity stages, how the information delivery cycle is progressing through project’s phases and what is BIM according to ISO. Last, I highlight the importance of establishing clear requirements and deliverables and I explain the concepts of Open BIM, the information management functions and the Level of Information Need standard.
