What to expect during the event

In this presentation I discuss the strategic role of the international standards ISO 19650 in BIM implementation and especially the requirements of the ISO 19650-1 and ISO 19650-2 standards.

The presentation begins with some facts related to the global and European BIM adoption trends, the ISO 19650 adoption drivers and barriers and the importance of the use standards in construction.

Next, I refer to the timeline of the UK BIM standards and how they have shaped the ISO 19650 series and I explain how BIM is developed in the asset’s lifecycle.

Following, I make a short reference to the ISO 19650-1and ISO 19650 -2 key concepts, explaining the ISO maturity stages, how the information delivery cycle is progressing through project’s phases and what is BIM according to ISO. Last, I highlight the importance of establishing clear requirements and deliverables and I explain the concepts of Open BIM, the information management functions and the Level of Information Need standard.
